How does Laser hair removal work?
The laser sends light energy at an incredibly high speed. This light is absorbed by melanin in the hair follicle. This results in the hair follicle overheating and damages the hair bulb. This stops the hair regrowing. This treatment also has the added benefit of rejuvenating your skin leaving it feeling smoother.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
No it’s a virtually painless procedure. The laser has a cooling head to make the treatment more pleasant. At most you will feel a slight warm, tingle sensation.
Is laser hair removal for me?
Treatment is safe and is suitable for skin types 1 to 5 so it’s suitable for anyone with these skin types looking for silky smooth results. The laser light is directed to the pigment of the hair follicle, the only consideration is whether your unwanted hair has enough pigment to be treated. Darker hair is the most suitable. We will discuss this with you at your consultation.
Where on my body can I have treatment?
You can have treatment anywhere that there is hair, even in sensitive areas. As long as it has enough pigment to attract the laser light, dark hair is best.
What results will I see?
Laser hair removal gives permanent hair reduction of up to 90%. Black and dark hair is best for removal. Unfortunately this treatment is not suitable for blonde, red, white or grey hair follicles in the treatment area- e.g. blonde hair on head but dark hair on say underarms, or legs is perfectly fine for removal.
How long will the hairs be gone for?
The results in the majority of cases are 85-92% permanent.
Is laser hair removal safe?
Definitely. The laser targets only the hair follicle, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed and in fact rejuvenates the skin. You may experience some redness but this should subside within 24 hours. Laser hair removal is safe and effective, even in sensitive areas.
